The Challenge
EmpreSomos runs a nonprofit platform helping students and professionals in Central America discover online learning opportunities. The platform needed a smarter way to guide users toward relevant courses — free and paid — from across the web without requiring staff to manually curate or recommend content. The solution needed to work in multiple languages, integrate cleanly with the existing website design, and be accessible to non-technical users with no training.
The Solution
I built a custom AI Copilot widget embedded directly into the EmpreSomos website using Microsoft Copilot Studio. The assistant uses Bing Custom Search to intelligently fetch course recommendations based on the user’s natural language input — surfacing relevant results from major MOOC platforms in real time. Users interact with the assistant in their preferred language. The bot understands the intent behind their query, searches across curated sources, and presents relevant course links directly within the conversation — removing the need to navigate multiple external platforms.
